UMS
PowerConnect™ provides full
suite of capabilities in its Unified Messaging product.
Facilities are available as separate building blocks so that
you can enable what you want, without paying for what you
don’t want. Each object packages one set of functionality
completely. The objects packaged by PowerConnect™ are
discussed below. In a speech-enabled solution, all voice
menus provided internally by PowerConnect™ automatically
become speech-enabled.
Voice
messaging.
These building blocks allow callers to leave voice messages
for recipients, and allow recipients to receive their
messages.
-
All
voice menus for leaving messages and retrieving them are
pre-built (including voice files), reducing deployment
time to a fraction. In a manner characteristic of
PowerConnect™’s versatility, numerous variations of
these menus are available for you to choose the one that
serves your needs the best.
-
Message
handling capabilities are built in. Once a caller leaves
a message, it is automatically managed until it finds
its way to the recipient:
-
The
message database can be hosted in a variety of
database formats, including popular Oracle and SQL
Server
-
Messages
can be delivered through e-mail or can be kept for
the recipient to call in, or the recipient can be
called. The file attached in an e-mail can be in a
variety of voice formats. While in transit, voice
messages are stored on disk in space-optimized
formats
-
The
building block is suitable for deployment both in
enterprise and TELCO environments.
-
Automatic
message handling can be disabled, and the recorded
message can be available in a file instead of custom
applications.
-
Numerous
notifications methods are possible
Inbound fax
server.
These building blocks allow callers to send fax messages for
recipients, and allow recipients to receive their faxes. The
object is very similar to voice messaging except that
instead of voice this object receives faxes from the
callers, and:
Outbound fax
server.
Allows people to send faxes from the comfort of their
desktop computers. There is no need to take prints, or stand
by the fax machine while it dials and sends. Enough has been
said in the industry about the return on benefit of this
product, but rarely has a product served outbound fax needs
so comprehensively. Here is how it works:
-
From
the application where you created your document, fire a
print to a pre-installed PowerConnect™ printer.
-
Fill
fax recipient information. Choose from the enclosed
address book
-
Press
Send.
The PowerConnect™ Server
dials and sends those faxes in turn, and keeps you notified
about the progress of your document in the system
E-mail on
phone and fax.
Want to access your e-mails while on the move? This is
the product of choice then. Using the PowerConnect™
E-mail-on-Phone object, callers can:
-
Call
in, authenticate themselves and listen to their e-mails
spoken out to them. Header information of each message
is spoken before the subject line and the body of the
message. Before speaking each message, PowerConnect™
retrieves them from the e-mail server and converts the
text to voice using the preferred engine.
-
Callers
can reply, forward, delete, send new e-mails through
speech
-
In
many instances, attachments can be spoken to the caller
as well.
-
Finally,
using PowerConnect™ E-mail on fax sub-object, callers
can receive their e-mail message or attachment through a
fax.
